Ordering frames can feel overwhelming, but with the right details it becomes a straightforward process. Below is a checklist of key factors to consider when placing your order:
Identify the type of wall the frame will be installed into (e.g., masonry, stud, or partition wall). This determines how the frame will be fixed and supported.
Confirm the total finished wall thickness to ensure the frame is manufactured to fit perfectly without gaps or adjustments on-site.
Select the frame material ( Zinc , Gal , stainless) and gauge (thickness). Heavier gauges provide greater durability, strength, and fire resistance.
Specify the number of hinges required. Standard doors typically use three hinges, but larger or heavier doors may need four.
The striker (lockset position) is usually set at 1032 mm from the floor to the centre of the strike. Confirm if you require the standard height or a custom position.
Provide accurate height and width measurements for the frame to ensure a precise fit for the door and opening.
Choose the frame profile (e.g., single rebate, double rebate, or custom design) to suit the application and aesthetic requirements.
Select how the frame will be fixed to the wall:
Welded / Dressed / Primed (WDP): Factory-welded, ready for immediate installation.
Knockdown (KD): Supplied in parts and welded on-site, ideal for tight access or retrofits.
Confirm the door thickness and whether it requires a specific fire rating, acoustic rating, or security certification.
Specify the handing (left-hand or right-hand swing) to ensure the frame is prepared for the correct orientation.
We offer custom cut outs in your door frames to accommodate a wide range of hardware options.
While some cut outs can be made onsite by security contractors, we recommend CNC machining during frame manufacturing. This ensures higher precision, saves time, and reduces costs.
When ordering a door frame with hardware cut outs, please provide the make and model number of your hardware so we can tailor the preparation to your needs.
The handing of a door refers to the direction it swings and the side on which the hinges are located. To determine this, follow these steps:
Stand on the side of the door from which you would enter the room (typically the inside).
If the hinges are on the right and the door swings towards you, it is a Right-Hand Door.
If the hinges are on the left and the door swings towards you, it is a Left-Hand Door.
Rule of Thumb:
When pulling the door towards you, the hinge side determines the handing:
Hinges on the right → Right-hand.
Hinges on the left → Left-hand.
